About Trails Above

Why Trails Above?

Liechtenstein is one of Europe's most underrated hiking destinations. Wedged between Switzerland and Austria, this tiny principality packs an extraordinary variety of terrain into 160 km²: valley walks along the Rhine, forested ridgelines, and high alpine routes pushing above 2,500m.

Trails Above started as a personal log of routes hiked in and around Vaduz — a way to remember the details that matter: which trail junction is easy to miss, where the morning light hits the ridge, which gear held up and which didn't. It grew into something more.

What You'll Find Here

Every guide on this site is based on first-hand experience. You'll find:

  • Detailed trail guides with practical info — distances, elevation, timing, difficulty, and navigation notes

Expanding to the Wider Alps

Liechtenstein is the starting point, but the plan is to cover the broader Alps — Austrian Vorarlberg and Tyrol, Swiss Graubünden, and eventually the full arc of the Alpine range. There's no shortage of trails.
